Fitting artificial grass to existing lawns or other similar soft surfaces usually involves the removal of around 50-100mm of the existing foundation from the area. The preparation of the surface is the most fundamental aspect to get right, and AGS have the staff and equipment to achieve this every time.
The next step involves laying an effective weed membrane which prevents weeds from penetrating through your artificial grass. The weed membrane is followed by a layer of course aggregate which provides a drainage solution and gets compacted to achieve a firm base. A shallow layer of sharp sand is then added and hand screeded to achieve a natural shape working with natural falls of the garden. Our team will then cut the grass into defined edges and create near seamless joins for areas over 4m in width.
A layer of kiln dried silica sand is then spread over the top of your new artificial grass which will provide protection, prevent lifting and aid keeping the fibres stood up. We will then groom grass with our mechanical rotary brush and add our finishing touches to achieve the first class finish we are renown for.
Prior to laying any grass, our staff will ensure ground is clear of any debris and complete any repair work to the existing surface if necessary, this will negate any imperfections that arise from bumps or unlevelled surfaces.
The artificial grass can be cut and laid straight on top of the surface with the same process as above to follow once grass has been laid, hard surfaces require less preparation and can generally be done in a shorter timeframe.
